Happy New Year!!! Today was a great day. I cleaned the apartment and did three loads of laundry with K's help. Kragen picked up [![[info]][5]][6][**celerypie**][7], aka Celeste, from the bus station. She stayed with us for just over two weeks. It was great to get to know her. She visited Bariloche for a couple of days. We hung out a bit upon their return. I then spent the late afternoon in San Telmo photographing Caprichosos Centros Murga de San Telmo. I have a photo assignment from a new magazine here in Buenos Aires. They wanted photos of the [new half completed, and half opened H-line of the subte][8], [murgas performing][9] and general life photos of the barrio Caballito. I've done the first two and have submitted the photos for the H-line, the San Telmo Murga and Saavadera Murga to Buenos Aires Insiders. It was a a lot of fun taking the photos of the dancing troupe - very lively. This gig isn't for pay, but if they use my photos then I'll be building a portfolio of published photos and gaining more exposure here in BsAs. A couple of weeks ago I [took photos][10] to hopefully accompany the article that my friend is writing for Wicked Bs As about the "High low class Puerto Madero tour". Puerto Madero is an expensive "revitalized" part of town and on Sundays it fills with "common folk" enjoying their mates and people watching. Both Magazines - [Buenos Aires Insider][11] and [Wicked Buenos Aires][12] are new magazines. I hope they survive.

That Sunday afternoon, taking the taxi to San Telmo, I had a good conversation with my taxista about murgas and trees of La Plata. It seems that Uruguians cut down most of their pine trees a while back and have been growing Eucalyptus for new rapid growth. He didn't think this was a good idea. I saw [evidence of the eucalyptus growth][13] when we traveled via bus through the countryside on our way to La Paloma.
