I took this shot of Ellen taking a shot of this gorgeous pedestrian path that has an arch of jacaranda branches. I have a couple of photographs of [this arch][5], but thought that this *action* shot was interesting and cool.

I just wish I wasn't such a mark. I know that I'm never going to fit in where ever I live, but it gets a bit old repeating the same answers all the time. The funny thing is though is that most Argentines, once they realize that we actually *live* here, are funnily shocked and laugh at our stupidity and ask us "WHY???" A lot of them would like to move to the US and can't understand why we'd come down here to such an "unsecure" place. I don't find it unsecure - I find it like any other big city. Bad stuff happens to good people everywhere. Kragen's laptop was stolen here in last January, but my camera was stolen in San Francisco. Both were crimes of opportunity and back luck. [Kevin Johansen][9]'s awesome song [Puerto Madero][10], talks a bit about the emigration/immigration phenomenon.

_Puerto Madero, Madero Puerto, we’re going to Puerto Madero
To see a concierto...

And all the people that aren’t from here would like to come and stay
And all the people that are from here just want to get away
And all the people that aren’t from here would like to come and stay
And all the people that are from here just want to go to Spain_

I squeal and sometimes swear and am just so damned happy at with my luck and eye and the beauty that I am able to see and capture. I'm having an interesting crisis of self these days because I am spending so much of my time with the camera and the computer. If I'm not taking photos, I'm processing my own, or looking at other people's shots on flickr & livejournal. In one sense I am a photographer, this is what I am spending my days and often nights doing. But on the other hand, I'm definitely not. I'm not making money at this. I just *love* it. Will the money come? I dunno and right now I'm lucky enough to not have to care. But, it feels a bit disingenuous when people ask me what I'm here doing in Argentina and I want to say that I'm a photographer. Hrm. But, I did just get published in a local magazine, so that's a good start, right? I recently bought a photography magazine in Spanish and I want to check out the schools here to see about furthering my artistic education. ::scratches head::

This is another one of my favorite shots. Ellen and I met up a couple of days ago early early in the morning to shoot the jacarandas with the morning light. We met up just after six at the _Museo de Bellas Artes_ just down the road from where we are currently living. The light was phenomenal. As most of you know, I am not a morning person, but sometimes it's worth the tiredness. You can see all the purple and green shots you could ever wish for in [this flickrset][17]. Enjoy!

In an unrelated note, today is my darling husband's 31st birthday! Happy birthday [![[info]][18]][19][**kragen**][20]. I hope it's a good one. We're going to have a small party this evening.
