[Paisleychick-lj] iPhoto grrrrr

Ghah! I fucking HATE computers right now. For some reason iPhoto decided to lose my library XML data. The photos are all still on my computer, and the albums still exist in my iPhoto, but it thinks I only have 565 photos instead of the 10,000+ photos I have. What the F*CK!?!?! So it seems like I have lost years worth of categorizing, naming and organizing. That meta data was kind of precious! Grrrrrr. I don't want to redo that work. Okay, I just realized that I do have a backup from December sometime, but man, why did it do this? That's still two months of a lot of work. Why would iPhoto decide just to give up the ghost like that? Does anyone of my Apple friends (TM) have any ideas as to why my computer would pull such a stunt? Is this a symptom of a larger problem?

Kragen's normal answer is that this is what happens when I use proprietary software, but he hasn't said that this morning, so I didn't rip his nice little head off. But it does make me wonder if I shouldn't make the switch to linux? But then again if this is a hardware problem, say my disk going bad (oh please god no), being on linux wouldn't help me one bit.

Ideas?
