Saturday afternoon, we left the apartment _en masse_ and took the bus to the huge park system in Palermo. I kept on stopping to take photos of the scenery, and [![[info]][2]][9][**kragen**][10] kept on getting frustrated. But, it worked out and we managed to find the Planetarium without a hitch. We got there around 5:15 and found Sarah, who had indeed managed to score tickets to the "Personal Fest 06" concert that evening. Yay! We made plans to meet up at 7:15 and then go head to the concert together. There was *a lot* of media there and it seems that it made the news worldwide - we've heard reports of pieces in Spain and in the States. How fun! Marina is very excited that so many people showed up, that it went well and that so much fun was had. All the local papers had write ups and gorgeous photos. Marina and Kragen were interviewed! Normally Kragen doesn't do media stuff, but he did this time. Everyone was very intrigued that we had been to the [Pillow Fight in San Francisco][11] and happened to be here for this one. The fighting got off a little early and lasted a long long time. We left at 7:15, but Marina told us that it kept on going until the police stopped it at 8:30! It wasn't like in San Francisco, where it got dark early. Here the sunset starts around 7:30 or so, and it seems they just kept on going. They didn't want to stop. There were people dressed up in costumes who got knocked around and attacked more than others. I think that was the point. There was [the horse][12], [the Japanese guy][13], the [men in dresses][14], and of course the [Lucha Libre Fighter][15]. I'm really glad we got to go and it made me feel like home. =)

Buenos Aires is very much like San Francisco with a heavy dose of Europe injected for good measure. Being here is very easy, even taking into consideration the language barrier. Feels like we're taking a break from our travels a bit. We went to a concert after the pillow fight - Personal Fest 06. [Personal][19] is some sort of communications company, and its presence was heavily felt throughout the event. There were four different concert venues and we wandered back and forth all night listening to the various bands. The best was "Supervielle" who played modern funk hiphop tango. It was great. The main stage was crap because the sound system was so awful. I remember not being able to distinguish or care about sound quality growing up and I've gotten better (or worse) depending on your point of view as I've gotten older. The sound was so bad that we left the acts before they finished. I sort of felt bad for the performers, but I also didn't because I didn't care very much for them. New Order (the top bill of the night) was cool, but again, the sound was so terrible that it was distracting and we left before the end of the set. Some elements of the event made Kragen wonder about how much it was influenced by Burning Man. There was a [DJ setup that was quite reminiscent of BM with the dome][20], the lights and the tarp-like covers. There were also people [wandering around on stilts][18]. It was like a burning man with sponsorship. I could easily see how people (ie concert promoters and the like) could get ideas from BM and "improve" upon them with money and time.   
  
  
Kragen had a good 30th birthday and I didn't have to plan or buy a thing. I kind of feel like I punted on this, but we really don't have room for more stuff with everything that we're carrying, he enjoyed himself and it was a great day! Just hope he doesn't think he can get away with that for me. ;-)   
  
Tomorrow we leave our host family and go to our apartment that we have rented for a week in San Telmo. Looking forward to having our own bit of space and not being a burden to others and being able to cook. It's been too too long.
