I have a confession to make. I love ice cubes. In high school I used to get teased for eating ice. My friends said it was a sign of sexual frustration. Aren't all teenagers sexually frustrated though? Ahem - back to the ice. The water is clean enough here in Venezuela that I can eat the ice without fear of getting sick. It helps keep me cool in the heat and humidity. It also helps keep me hydrated, but that's just a positive side benefit. I love ice. I love the way it crunches between my teeth and its coolness as it slides down my throat. Sometimes the ice here is in these huge chunks. I can't do much with those, except carefully attack them with my swiss army knife. When trying to get the bite-sized pieces the larger chunks have a way of sliding down the cup first. Then I have to fiddle and move them around to let the smaller pieces through. Sometimes the slurping and crunching drives Kragen crazy, but usually I'm free to munch on ice. I love ice.
