Tuesday night I spied [one of these great billboards][5] that Buenos Aires has all over town. I was very interested in what it said - New Years Fireworks show at the Planetarium! We don't need to scan newspapers to find out what's going on in town, we just need to pay attention to the posters put up all around town. We knew where we needed to go as that's where we had the pillow fight when we first got to Buenos Aires back in November. We left our apartment a little late and squabbled about that till we got on the bus. We paid our 80 centavos each (~25 cents) and rode the number 93 to near Plaza Italia. As we approached the traffic snarled and slowed to a crawl. It seems like we weren't the only people in town with this brilliant idea. We zig zagged through the crowded sidewalks to try and get ahead of the crowd. We were late! Oh no! We were going to miss the start. Um no. Nothing much ever starts on time in Argentina. I think movies are the only exception around here. The fireworks got started around 22:20 and lit the night sky for about 20 minutes. The crowd appreciated the show and oohed and ahhed at the appropriate places, but they also clapped at the end of each segment, which I am unused to. Very polite!  
  
Kragen was very hungry and so we split up, while he went to go stand in line and wait for a sausage sandwich. We met up after the show and walked home. It took a lot longer than expected, but it was so nice to walk around town without it being hot. Kragen was antsy to get back to the apartment to program some more. He was gracious as I stopped and took photos of the mechanical flower next to the law library, that was shut for the night! It wasn't a myth, it did move.   
  
I took [lots of photos][6] and some of them were even good! I also took a one minute movie with my little camera and put it up on [you tube][7] and [the archive][8].  
  
So, I'm not sure what we're going to do for the actual New Year's eve celebration. Hopefully, we will find more billboards letting us know about more cool things going on around town.
