I am shorn and shaven; and a "pile of junk"

I got a haircut yesterday, for the first time in perhaps eight months.
Now my hair looks nice again for the first time in perhaps six months.
Today I shaved as well, and suddenly I look completely different.
I saw a classified ad: "Pile of junk, $100". The pile of junk
(computer junk) included at least one thing I really wanted (a PCMCIA
Ethernet card) and some things I figured I could probably use, so I
went and picked it up.
Beatrice's old roommate Torbin is picking up her other old roommate
Susannah's cats today; the two of them have just moved in together.
I'll miss those cats, but Slink will surely be relieved to have them
gone. She doesn't get along well with other cats.
Beatrice and I slept at her parents' house in Bolinas last night. As
we drove back to 101 --- so she could go to work and I could go home
--- we passed a group of seals relaxing on a sandspit in the lagoon.
One of the seals was sort of clumphing its way around the others;
Beatrice laughed. "That looks like Slink!" And she was right; Slink
frequently moves just like a seal.
I spent much of this morning trying to heal the rift between the open
source movement and the free software movement --- not to make them a
single entity, but to get them to cooperate a little better. I know
this is a somewhat sisyphean task.
I noticed this afternoon that miso tastes a lot like Vegemite, so I
had some miso spread on bread.
Today is Mardi Gras. I haven't noticed a lot of revelry yet. Maybe
I'll go to the Castro tonight.
