another day, another automotive accident

I picked up Beatrice at work yesterday; she'd been driving her mom's
car, but dropped it off at a mechanic yesterday. So I gave her a ride
home.
On the way home, we were stopped in the middle of an intersection
behind someone waiting to turn left, and some guy rear-ended us.
There was a little bit of plastic on my trailer hitch, and the hitch
had punched a neat hole in his plastic front bumper. "I thought it
was a no-left-turn intersection, but I guess I was wrong," he said.
He wasn't hurt, and I don't think I was hurt either; but Beatrice's
neck hurt, and then later last night her back hurt. She went to the
doctor today. They said her back muscles were strained.
I woke up today at 11:00. I've shoveled out a bunch of spam, written
email to a few people, eaten a baked potato, and wondered about
selling my Dayton house.
There's an interesting article on Slashdot about structural integrity
of laptops in which people discuss how to tell sturdy laptops from
less-sturdy ones.
