Actually, this is not surprising at all.
Dr. Mann's whole point was that the way that we regain control and privacy
is by equipping each person with a camera so they can tape everything
themselves.
I saw Dr. Mann speak at The USENIX Technical conference in June 1998.
He did a very interesting documentary while at MIT where he would go into
department stores in his equipment and ask why they were video taping him.

I can tell more about his talk if anyone is interested. I have the stuff
that he put in the USENIX packet, plus my own notes, but I thought I
wouldn't go into posting it all unless folks are interested.
